Durga
Puja finds
a special place among the festivals
of India. It is celebrated by Bangla
speaking people of the country and
all over the world, to commemorate
the triumph of goodness over the evil.
Feasting and fasting are the two highlighting
aspects of the ceremonious occasion,
apart from the set up of magnificent
puja pandals at every nook and corner
of West Bengal. The busy streets of
the eastern state of India are occupied
with people, who enjoy all the ten
days of the festival by worshipping
Goddess Durga and making delicious
dishes.
Although Bengalis
are known for their sweet tooth, their cuisine consists of a number of spicy
dishes as well. Nonetheless, they add a tinge of sugar to their dishes, in
order to satisfy their taste buds. Some of the Bengali spicy dishes that have
gained
popularity over the years include Chola Dal, Bandhakopar Dalna and Aloo Posto.

favorite sweet dish. The Bengali recipes are easy to make as well as take much
less time. In this section, we have given the recipes for some of the popular
